What solution could revolutionise electricity production and make it renewable, closer and accessible to all ?
An innovative technology for the Carribean !
The Aeroleaf is a micro wind turbine developped by NewWind to capture urban winds, accumulate watts and produce kilowatts. The choice of a vertical axis generator brings the benefits of silence and a compact design shaped like a leave. The Aeroleaf is sensitive to all types of wind, turbulent or laminar, which allows a self-starting process at very low wind speed. The originality of the Aeroleaf is based on its combination and multiplicity to reach significant power from small winds. It is a modular system where all production is summed up prior to be connected to your system and directly used for your on-site electricity needs.
In addition, for each wind speed there is a corresponding optimum Aeroleaf rotation speed, that provides the maximum power generation. To leverage on each available Watt, NewWind developped an electronic card with a micro-processor that keeps each Aeroleaf autonomous and drives the Aeroleaf rotation to its optimum speed for its own wind exposure. Finally, a centrifugal brake helps to protect the components from excessive wear and tear at high wind speed, thus allowing a life span of 15 years.
By its peaceful and elegant tree-shape, the WindTree revolutionise the concept of the wind turbine by hiding all the technology within the leaves and tree structure. The original idea came to Jérôme Michaud-Larivière on a windless day while he was observing the subtle motion of leaves on their branches. The design was created by Claudio Colucci to manage an artistic connection between nature and performance. The spatial distribution of the leaves is of critical importance to ensure a maximum of wind power is captured and converted into electricity.
